edition presents updated taxonomic nomenclatures, as well as a
description of the collection of specimens and plants studied and
described by Giuseppe Raddi, with their phytotherapeutic properties
noted, including an updated glossary and images specially provided by
photographer Sebastião Salgado.
Giuseppe
Raddi, considered the father of ecology in Italy and responsible for
the first publication on Brazilian tropical plants, the result of his
passage to Brazil, where he accompanied the princess consort Leopoldina,
as a member of the Austrian expedition in 1817.
